*Butterfly Truths

April 23, 2007

The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth.
Niels Bohr

I’ve often wondered at this but it is true:) It’s what keeps things interesting, debating things this way and that, reordering the world in your own way, finding contradictions even in your own best order, until you finally agree with yourself that there is no point in trying to pin down the truth. Pinning down the truth is like pinning a butterfly to a board to know it better. Once you have agreed with yourself that in this finite form you will never understand much of anything, the miraculous nature of every little thing just has to suffice to keep things interesting.
